The City of Hayward is excited to launch Hayward Rides, a program to provide bicycles to residents, helping to make cycling a more accessible, affordable, and sustainable transportation option. For low-income students, families, and residents with limited access to transportation — anyone ready to ride!

Why Bike? Real Benefits for Our Community
- Health: Bicycling can improve cardiovascular fitness, with studies showing the potential to reduce risk of diabetes and lower stress levels.
- Climate Action: Transportation accounts for 62% of Hayward’s greenhouse gas emissions (City of Hayward Climate Action Plan, 2024). Biking supports our goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045.
- Air Quality: Fewer car trips mean less air pollution, improving respiratory health across neighborhoods.

Summer Street Parties
Celebrate summer by attending annual Summer Street Parties held on the third Thursday of June, July and August on B St in downtown Hayward.

Juneteenth Freedom Celebration
The annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration festival will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at Heritage Plaza, 835 C Street, across from the downtown Hayward Public Library. Admission is free. The festival performance schedule is available online .
