Pioneers take third at Bronco Invitational

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - A solid team effort enabled the Pioneer women’s cross country team to finish third at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale on Oct. 16. 91³Ô¹Ï compiled a score of 125 in the 20-team field. The Pioneers beat out CCAA rivals Sonoma State and San Francisco State, while Chico State captured the team title with a score of 125.

Sophomore Megan McDaniel placed 20th to lead all Pioneer runners. McDaniel covered the 5k course in 19:06 to pace  Cal State 91³Ô¹Ï for the fifth time this season. Nancy Velazquez recorded a time of 19:15 to finish 26th.

Amanda McNabb and Tiffany Duffy finished just four-tenths of a second apart to place 37th and 39th, respectively. Bernadette Lu covered the course in 19:36.9 to take 45th, while Clarivel Vega rounded out the Pioneer contingent with a 54th-place finish.

Cal State 91³Ô¹Ï returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Cal Poly Pomona Invitational. The event will serve as a preview for the CCAA Championships on Oct. 30, also in Pomona.
